Honor will launch a TV with pop-up camera

Honor presented some features of the Vision TV, its 55-inch Smart TV that will be officially launched on August 9, 2019. With a big surprise: the presence of a pop-up camera for facial recognition. Yes, yes, on a TV.

We know for several months now, Honor wants to launch a Smart TV in 2019. An industry that attracts many Chinese smartphone manufacturers since Huawei and OnePlus should also offer such a product in the coming months. George Zhao, CEO of Honor, took advantage of the Global Mobile Internet Conference in China to unveil some details on the future Honor Vision TV.

Honor announces the Vision TV: 55 inches, Smart TV and ... a pop-up camera!

First detail that strikes, you can see in the visual above, the TV is equipped with a hidden camera at the top of the screen. A technology that has become usual on smartphones but that was not expected to be transposed on a TV. Associated with a NPU (chip dedicated to Artificial Intelligence), it will allow the device to offer a facial recognition option. Remain what it will serve. On mobile, this feature is used for unlocking, which makes less sense on a TV. One can imagine a system with which the TV would adapt the contents displayed on the screen according to the person watching, for example. But George Zhao has not said more and we will have to wait a little before knowing more.

For the rest, we learn that the Honor Vision TV is equipped with a HiSilicon's Hongu 818 chip with octa-core CPU. It would display 8K in 30 fps and 4K in 120 fps. It offers a 55-inch diagonal classic screen. After this foretaste, we will know more soon: the official presentation is scheduled for August 9, 2019, also date of the Huawei Developers Conference.
